Who is Changpeng Zhao?
Changpeng Zhao, whom we know as CZ in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, is a Chinese-Canadian businessman. It is known that CZ's Professor father, who was born in Jiangsu, China, in 1977, was described as a pro-bourgeois intelligence and was temporarily exiled shortly after CZ was born.
Later, Zhao moved with his family to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in the late 1980s. After his father was exiled, CZ supported his family by working various jobs including McDonalds and a gas station.
Later, Zhao continued his education at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he specialized in computer science. After college, Zhao started working for the Tokyo Stock Exchange and developed software for matching trade orders. CZ has also worked at Bloomberg Tradebook, where he is a developer of futures software.
Moving to Shanghai in 2005, Zhao founded Fusion Systems, which is hailed as the fastest high-frequency trading systems for brokers.
Having developed himself in software, Zhao later entered the cryptocurrency ecosystem and has worked on various cryptocurrency projects, including Blockchain.info, from 2013, and served as chief technology officer of OKCoin.
Changpeng Zhao and Cryptocurrencies
As we mentioned above, CZ, which has been burning since 2013, is in the crypto money ecosystem. However, Changpeng Zhao's recognition and popularity began to rise when he founded Binance, which is now the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange in terms of trading volume.
In 2017, Zhao left OKCoin to launch a cryptocurrency exchange called Binance. After raising $15 million in funding during an ICO offering, Zhao founded Binance in July 2017. In less than eight months, Zhao made Binance the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume as of April 2018.
In February 2018, Forbes Magazine placed Zhao at number three on its list of "The Richest People in the Cryptocurrency Space". In addition to this, CZ was also ranked 5th on the Forbes list named “Crypto Rich List 2021”. As of 2021, CZ's net worth is estimated at $1.9 billion.
Known by many people who are interested in the crypto money ecosystem today, CZ actively uses his Twitter account and constantly shares about both cryptocurrencies and his company Binance. Considering CZ's areas of expertise, it can be stated that almost the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem respects CZ and takes his recommendations into account.
